In Loving Memory of Rand Wayne Rom
March 22, 1951 - May 18, 2021
Rand Rom left us unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 18th at the age of 70. Rand displayed his artistic side at a very young age by performing skits and short plays for family. He started Rom's Creative Studio and worked as a freelance graphic designer and 3D artist.
Rand offered sign language classes to community members at church and eventually joined Arizona Total Immersion (AZTI) as an American Sign Language instructor. He attended every year's AZTI program from 2002 on, never missing one! His kind spirit, patience and sense of humor inspired many to learn to use sign language and he made many close friends teaching both online and in-person classes. Rand loved gourmet cooking and all breeds of cats. He made intricately wrapped, artistically labelled presents and "works of art" cookies for holidays. His ASL AZTI Instructors/Participants and friends describe him as a gentle soul, a most caring man, creative, fun loving, an amazing teacher, a talented artist, and the source of beautiful, positive vibes to everyone. His generous spirit, wide smile and infectious giggle will leave a lasting memory for all whose lives he touched.
Rand Wayne Rom is greatly missed by throughout the Deaf Community and by us at ASL Arizona Total Immersion.
